Learners

We can teach you how to play a brass instrument! The band takes on learners of any age and prior knowledge. Whether you are new to music, can read already, or need to polish up your skills, the band is happy to help you out.
The band can provide you with an instrument and learning material to practice. Learners will be expected to merge in with the senior band once they are confident to do so. Until then, we can arrange small or one on one lessons to teach you to read music and learn the basics of your instrument.
The instruments in a brass band are the:

• Cornet
• Flugle horn
• Tenor horn
• Baritone
• Euphonium
• Trombone
• Tuba
• Percussion

For children, joining a community band to learn an instrument is a great hobby. Along with music and a brass instrument, they learn discipline, performance skills and community awareness. The supportive environment found in a band means there is support where it is needed, while performances and competitions build confidence and self-esteem. 

Learning a new hobby isn’t just for kids. Community banding is all about welcoming new members who would like to become involved in the brass band world, no matter their age or background. It’s never too late to learn!
